Term 1 Review

Mid Term Review

1.  What are the the musical goals you want to achieve this year?
  • I want to become a more advanced guitarist
  • I want to learn the drums
2. Are these musical goals new/have they changed from when you first wrote your goals on your blog?
When i first wrote my goals I wanted to become a more advanced guitar player, but now I also want to learn drums.

3. Do you think you are achieving these goals? How do you know?

I do think that I am achieving these goals because I am practising guitar much more than i used to and I am having drumming lessons in school.

4. Is there anything stopping you from achieving these goals?
I can play my guitar at home so i can improve and learn my new songs, however I do not have a drum kit so i can't practice drumming at home. This means that I won't make as much progress.

5. What do you need to focus on each lesson to achieve these goals?
I need to focus on my guitar riffs and drumming patterns in order to improve.

6. Write in detail what you would like to achieve this year in music.
This year, I want to be able to play advanced riffs on guitar, and learn the songs: Sweet Child O Mine, Back In Black and Superstition. I would also like to improve my drumming beats, by having drumming lessons in school and practicing at lunchtime.

7. Write five things you need to learn/be taught for you to become the musician you want to become.

1. Guitar
2. Drums
3. Sweet Child O mine - Guns and Roses
4. Back in Black - AC/DC
5. Superstition - Stevie Wonder

8. Progress in last two weeks.

In the past two weeks, I have been practicing the whole song of 'Sweet Child Of Mine' by Guns and Roses. In the first week, I practiced the lead riff and main guitar chords. The week after I learned the chorus and part of the solo. At first, I found the lead riff very hard, but now I find it easy because I have practiced at home. I now need to learn the rest of the solo, so that I can play the whole song off by heart. For my next lesson, I'll need to watch some tutorials on how to play the solo.
